Missing Bins!

Merton Council / Veolia have a habit of removing bins when they are reported as overflowing.  Short term this solves the problem, but then increase the amount litter on our streets.  In less than a year Merton Council bins have been reduced from 1200 to just 669!

£5m spent clearing up after litter louts yet Merton has 1.2k bins. There’s no excuse for littering #KeepMertonClean http://ow.ly/MFsi309hmNQA Merton Council spokesperson said: "Nevertheless, the cleanliness of the borough is our priority. Across Merton we have in excess of 669 street bins – 335 of which have recycling facilities."

Where’s the bin in photo 3? Another bin’s disappeared on corner of Pelham and Palmerston Road SW19. Instead, littering bags are increasing-couple more bags since yest.Pls advise where they are and pls clear.

Something must be going on. I noticed the bin in the ROW opposite St John’s Church on Spencer Hill, which was constantly overflowing, has also disappeared

We did a magic trick! We asked @idverdeUK to empty the bin outside the Farm more often, and it disappeared! Or maybe it just exploded due to fullness.

Well this is one way to deal with a bin that needs emptying more than once a week. Bin has been REMOVED between 10am & 2pm today but some mess still around including a can #muckymerton @Merton_Council @idverdeUK on footpath between Merantun Way and Windsor Ave beside Wandle

@Merton_Council Why are the rubbish bins disappearing in Raynes Park? You now have to walk for miles to find one and litter is pilling up.

We have reported the fly-tip at Mitcham Tram stop. The bin will be removed as soon as possible. Thanks for flagging. LH

The #MuckyMerton overflowing bin has been resolved for good by @Merton_Council by simply removing the bin altogether! Another problem solved

Ah yes, near Wandle Park where they removed the litter bin, as it was much trouble to empty it.
